About AILET

The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is conducted by National Law University Delhi for admission to its own five-year B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) and its one-year LL.M. It is not the test used by the other National Law Universities. The university's FAQ says a candidate cannot take a seat at NLU Delhi through CLAT or LSAT. There is no maximum or minimum age for AILET 2027.

AILET 2027 is a pen-and-paper test, answers marked on an OMR sheet, on Sunday, 13 December 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The notification of 23 July 2026 and the admission announcement of 7 August 2026 both give that single sitting. The FAQ says the duration is two hours. Online applications opened on 7 August 2026 and the last date printed for them is 10 November 2026, with 30 April 2027 for Foreign National and OCI/PIO applications. The fee printed on the announcement is ₹3,000, or ₹1,000 for an SC, ST or PwD applicant. An SC, ST or woman applicant who is below the poverty line is exempt from the fee.

For the B.A.LL.B.(Hons.), the AILET 2027 exam-details page prints three sections and 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks, in 120 minutes. Section A is English Language (50 questions, 50 marks). Section B is Current Affairs and General Knowledge (30 questions, 30 marks). Section C is Logical Reasoning (70 questions, 70 marks). The same page says legal principles may be used in logical reasoning to test logical aptitude, and that the examination does not require legal knowledge or technical understanding. A wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. The page puts it as 0.25 times 4 equals 1, so four wrong answers cost 1 mark. The page gives one duration for the whole paper and does not print a separate time for each section, so this test uses one clock.

If two B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) candidates have the same total, the exam-details page ranks the one with higher marks in Logical Reasoning first, then the older candidate, then a computerised draw of lots. Eligibility on that programme's page is a 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 45% (42% for OBC and 40% for SC, ST and persons with disability). The admission announcement's shorter line names 40% for SC and ST and does not repeat persons with disability in that parenthesis. Candidates sitting Class 12 in 2027 may apply. The announcement lists 110 seats filled on AILET merit and 10 more (5 Foreign Nationals and 5 OCI/PIO) filled on qualifying-exam marks, 120 in all. Foreign Nationals are exempt from AILET and need 65% in the qualifying examination. An OCI or PIO candidate who applies as an Indian national must sit AILET.

The one-year LL.M. is a separate paper on the same date and the same two-hour sitting. The LL.M. exam-details page says it is multiple choice only: 100 questions, 1 mark each, all from different branches of law, 120 minutes, with the same 0.25 deduction for a wrong answer. It does not split those 100 questions by subject. A tie is broken by senior age, then a computerised draw of lots. The announcement asks for an LL.B. or equivalent with 50% (45% for SC, ST and persons with disabilities), and lists 70 seats on AILET merit plus 5 Foreign National and 5 OCI/PIO seats. It also prints one supernumerary seat for Kashmiri Migrants. This guide describes that paper and does not set a practice test for it, because the questions are from branches of law rather than the three undergraduate sections. A separate All India Entrance Test on 2 May 2027, named in the same announcement, covers other programmes including the Ph.D. That test is not AILET.

None of the AILET 2027 pages read for this guide offers a Hindi question paper. The 2026 B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) and LL.M. booklets are in English, and each tells the candidate to darken one of four responses. This practice material is in English only.
